Post in a Teams channel when a form is submitted

Let's explore how you post a message in a Teams channel when a form is submitted

Updated over a week ago

When a form is submitted, you can automatically notify your team members using Team Forms’ built-in email notification feature. However, it can also be helpful to post a message in a team’s channel. This tutorial outlines one method that can be used to achieve this. Please note that if you have more complex requirements or if the method below doesn’t meet your needs, you may need to utilize Microsoft Power Automate to further control the channel message and notifications.

  1. Open Microsoft Teams and navigate to the channel you wish to post a message to

  2. Hover over the channel and click the "..." icon. To reveal the context menu

  3. Click "Get email address" followed by "copy". This will generate a unique email address. Any emails sent to this address will automatically be posted within the channel.

  4. Navigate back to Team Forms and configure your form to send email notifications to the email address generated earlier. The body email will become the body of the channel post and \the pdf will also be attached to the post if enabled.

One side effect of this method is channel subscribers may also receive an email notification along with the team's message. If this is undesirable, you will need to utilize Microsoft Power Automate to further control the channel message and notifications.
