Troubleshooting – Unable to Open a Submission

Subtitle: “Oops, something went wrong – Looks like you do not have access to this submission”

Updated over 2 weeks ago

If you see the message below when attempting to open a form response:

Oops, something went wrong

Looks like you do not have access to this submission

There are several possible causes. This article will guide you through the most common reasons and how to resolve them.

1. Access Has Not Been Granted by the Team Owner / Administrator

This message can appear if the Team Owner or Administrator has not granted you access to the submission.

Even if you are a member of the Team, access to certain submissions may still be restricted depending on how permissions have been configured.

How to resolve:

  • Contact your Team Owner or Administrator.

  • Ask them to confirm that you have been granted access to the relevant form and its submissions.

  • Once access has been granted, refresh the page or log out and back in to update your permissions.

If your the team owner please check the steps below.

2. Submission Did Not Finish Uploading (Interrupted Sync)

This can occur if a user closes the browser or application before the submission has fully uploaded.

When a user attempts to close Team Forms during an active upload, a warning popup is displayed. However, if the user chooses to ignore the warning and exits early, the upload may stop partway through.

This can result in:

  • Missing files

  • Incomplete submission data

  • The system interpreting the submission as inaccessible

How to resolve:

  • Ask the submitting user to reopen Team Forms in the same browser or client.

  • The upload process will automatically resume from where it left off.

  • Once the upload completes successfully, the submission should become accessible.

Prevention tip:

Advise users to wait until they see the success/confirmation screen before closing the browser or application.

3. Submission Was Deleted

The submission may have been deleted by:

  • The original submitting user

  • Another user with permission to manage submissions

If this is the case:

  • Check whether the submission appears in any deleted/recycle view (if applicable).
