If the Location component isn't capturing a user's location, this is almost always due to location permissions not being granted.
We recommend using Team Forms in your web browser
For the best experience, we recommend opening Team Forms directly in your web browser rather than inside Microsoft Teams.
When running inside Microsoft Teams, users must grant location access in both:
Their device or browser.
Microsoft Teams itself.
This additional permission layer can sometimes prevent Team Forms from accessing your location even when your device location settings are enabled.
Accessing Team Forms directly in your browser removes this extra layer of permissions and generally provides the most reliable experience when using location-based features.
How the Location Component Works
Several Team Forms components can make use of your device's location, including:
Location – Captures the user's current location and displays it on a map.
Address – Suggests nearby addresses based on your current location.
For privacy reasons, browsers and mobile operating systems require users to explicitly grant permission before Team Forms can access their location.
Using Team Forms in a Web Browser (Recommended)
When you first use a form containing a location-based component, your browser will normally ask whether you'd like to allow location access.
Select Allow when prompted.
If you've previously denied access, you'll need to re-enable it in your browser's site permissions.
Desktop browsers
Most desktop browsers (Chrome, Edge, Firefox and Safari) will display a location prompt or a location icon in the address bar. Click this icon to review or update the permission for Team Forms.
Note: Desktop computers often don't have built-in GPS hardware, so location accuracy may be lower than on a mobile device.
Mobile browsers
On iPhone and Android devices, your browser will ask for permission to access your location the first time it is required. Simply select Allow.
Using Team Forms in Microsoft Teams
If you're using Team Forms inside Microsoft Teams, there are two separate permission layers that must both allow access.
1. Device Location Permission
Ensure the Microsoft Teams app has permission to access your device's location.
Windows: Settings → Privacy & Security → Location
iPhone/iPad: Settings → Privacy & Security → Location Services → Microsoft Teams
Android: Settings → Apps → Microsoft Teams → Permissions → Location
Your IT department may manage these permissions using your organisation's mobile device management policies.
2. Microsoft Teams App Permissions
Microsoft Teams also manages permissions for apps running inside Teams.
Users must allow apps within Teams to access their location.

Confirm you've allowed location access when prompted.
Verify your device location services are enabled.
If using Microsoft Teams, verify both Teams and device location permissions have been granted.
Refresh the form and try again.
Test on another device or browser to determine whether the issue is specific to one device.
