Understanding the Team Forms Sync Process

What each animation and indicator means after submitting a form

Updated over 2 weeks ago

Why you see a tick even before your response is fully uploaded

When a team member submits a form in Team Forms, they’ll see a large tick animation confirming the form has been successfully submitted.

However, this tick does not mean the response has finished uploading to SharePoint. It simply means the form has been marked as submitted — similar to marking an email as “sent” before it’s fully synced to the cloud.

Background Upload Indicator

To keep the experience fast and seamless, Team Forms syncs data to SharePoint in the background, much like how OneDrive uploads files behind the scenes. Instead of forcing the user to wait, the app allows them to continue using the form or submit new responses immediately.

During this background upload, a small loading indicator appears at the bottom of the screen to show upload progress.

Once the upload completes, a smaller tick animation appears to confirm that the sync was successful.

What If the App is Closed Mid-Upload?

No problem — if the app is closed before the sync finishes, Team Forms will automatically retry the upload the next time the app is opened. Your data is never lost, and uploads will continue seamlessly when you’re back online.
