How to Rename a Power Automate Workflow in Team Forms

Change the workflow name displayed in Team Forms by renaming the Power Automate trigger.

You may notice that when viewing Workflows in Team Forms (either via Form Builder → … → Workflows or Submissions → Workflow Runs), the workflow name displayed in Team Forms does not match the name of your workflow in Microsoft Power Automate.

This is due to the way Power Automate identifies workflows behind the scenes. Rather than using the workflow’s display name, Power Automate exposes the name of the trigger that starts the workflow.

As a result, Team Forms displays the trigger name instead of the workflow name itself.

How to Change the Name Shown in Team Forms

To change the workflow name displayed in Team Forms:

  1. Open your workflow in Microsoft Power Automate.

  2. Locate the When a form response is submitted trigger at the top of the workflow.

  3. Click the menu on the trigger and select Rename.

  4. Enter the name you would like to appear in Team Forms.

  5. Save the workflow.

Once saved, Team Forms will display the new trigger name the next time workflow information is refreshed.

Note: This behaviour is a limitation of Microsoft’s implementation of Power Automate. Unfortunately, Power Automate does not expose the workflow name to Team Forms, so the trigger name must be used instead.
